An advisor can help you achieve your financial goals. Here is what to expect when you speak to a Cambrian Advisor.

As you go through different stages in your life, you will likely need to meet with a Cambrian Advisor. Our advisors are trained to assist members in a variety of ways, helping you simplify banking, save time and money and solve financial problems.

Regardless of your financial situation, there are always several good reasons to meet with a Cambrian Advisor.

Why Meet with a Personal Banking Advisor

At Cambrian, we help our members with mortgage applications, credit requirements such as loans or credit cards, retirement planning or saving for a child’s education, budgeting and counselling. Cambrian Advisors can also help you find a Wealth Advisor to assist with investments.

When you meet with an advisor, they won’t just be looking at your needs today; they’ll look at the entire picture to get a sense of what your long-term goals are to recommend a product or strategy that will work best for you, not just now but in the future, as well.

Cambrian Advisors strive to build members’ confidence in their financial health. In addition to helping members with their credit, saving, and mortgage needs, they help them develop a deeper understanding of financial literacy. Advisors can also help members build a GIC strategy and explain the process, so members can manage it themselves.

What Should I Bring to Meet an Advisor?

The best thing to bring with you is an open mind and a willingness to learn. If you don’t have any clear goals in mind, you can ask yourself some questions like:

  • What is important to you?
  • Do you have an emergency fund?
  • Does anyone depend on you financially?
  • Are you thinking of going back to school?
  • What is your ideal timeframe to make all these goals happen?

Your first meeting is usually for you and your advisor to get to know each other and for your advisor to understand your goals. However, to be even more prepared for your meeting, you can bring your personal financial documents. These can include:

  • A budget
  • Your assets and investments
  • Your pay stubs
  • Your previous tax returns
  • Any insurance policies

Your advisor may need to know your assets and liabilities to understand your unique situation fully. It would help if you let them know of any debts you may have.

When should I meet with an Advisor?

We recommend making an appointment with an advisor anytime you have questions about your finances. For instance, if you’re looking at Cambrian’s Mortgage Affordability Calculator, it’s time to book an appointment.

Even if you aren’t ready to buy just yet, we can look at your goals and provide education on debt servicing to determine if a purchase is within your means. The sooner we can get people on the right path, the better.

“I had a wonderful experience at Cambrian. I've been with the same institution for the last 21 years and all the fees and restrictions have finally pushed me into wanting to make some changes.

My advisor was prepared for my arrival with all the documents ready and waiting. He took the time to go over each one...”
