A senior and a woman browse the internet on a laptop

Domain spoofing is quickly becoming an increasingly popular way for online fraud artists to attempt to scam unsuspecting victims. If you’re unfamiliar with domain spoofing, it’s when malicious actors create fake websites that look like legitimate sites in an attempt to steal your personal information.

This deceptive practice can have severe consequences, including identity theft, financial loss, and compromised security. Understanding domain spoofing and how to avoid falling victim to it is crucial to safeguarding your online presence.

To ensure your online safety, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Access our website only through a saved bookmark or by typing the URL (cambrian.mb.ca) directly into your browser.
  • Avoid using search engines like Google to find our website, as this could lead to spoofed sites.

Additionally, please be vigilant about phishing attempts. Phishing is a type of online scam where attackers pretend to be a trustworthy entity to trick you into giving them private information, like passwords or credit card details. They often use fake emails, messages, or spoofed websites to deceive you.

To safeguard yourself against phishing attempts, never click on suspicious links or open unexpected attachments in emails, even if they appear to be from legitimate sources. Always verify the sender's email address and the content of the message before taking any action.

For Cambrian members, it’s important to remember:

  • We will never ask you for your login credentials via email, text message or telephone.
  • We will never email you a PDF of your statement. Instead, you will receive notification when your statement is ready, at which point you can log in and retrieve your statement.
