Be mindful when you’re faced with “big” sales this season!

It can be tempting to spend big bucks on Boxing Day. Stores are brimming with deals and there’s a sense of urgency to buy before it’s too late.
You don’t have to break your budget though. Here are some tips on how to keep your head if you go shopping this Boxing Day.
Decide ahead of time what you want to buy and what your budget is.
Once you’ve determined your budget, use debit or cash that day and just leave your credit card at home. That way, you’ll stick to a finite amount of money, and you’ll be less tempted to spend beyond your means.
Find out what the regular prices are ahead of time, so you have a sense of what’s a good deal and what’s not.
Note: Sometimes retailers set original prices high to give the illusion of a great deal in a sale, so be sure to also compare the prices of similar products from other stores.
“This great deal ends tomorrow!” “You’ll never see a sale like this again!”
Don’t be fooled. There will always be the next big sale. If you don’t need or even want it right now, then don’t buy it.
Many retailers will offer price matches or extensions on price adjustments for previously purchased items. For example, if year-end clearance prices are better than the Boxing Day price, you can take the product in and show your receipt to get some of your money back.
