Just half an hour north of Winnipeg, Oak Hammock Marsh Wetland Discovery Centre has 36 square kilometres of protected wetlands, including over 30 kilometres of hiking trails. There are also interactive exhibits inside as well as a rooftop observation deck.

Living Prairie Museum is a nature preserve on the west side of Winnipeg that protects endangered tall-grass prairies. They have walking trails and an interpretive centre, and admission is free!
Located in Royalwood in Winnipeg South, Bois-des-Esprits is a 27-kilometre greenway along the Seine River, perfect for exploring. “Bois-des-Esprits” translates to “Woods Where the Spirits Dwell.”
Get started on Shorehill Dr. and end at John Bruce Rd., or the other way around! Stroll along the path and see if you can spot all the wood carvings on the trees, or ride your bike for a faster pace. Just make sure to watch out for those on foot!
The Marine Museum of Manitoba, open since 1972, tells the story of marine life on Lake Winnipeg and the Red River, going as far back as 1850. Board the ships themselves and learn about the role the Port of Selkirk played in Manitoba!
