Each spring, in advance of its Annual General Meeting, Cambrian holds director elections, where members vote to determine which candidates will fill vacancies on the credit union’s board.
If you’re a Cambrian member who is 18 years of age or older, you can vote! Member votes will determine which candidates join the board in a given year.
The board of directors comprises experienced individuals who guide the strategic direction of Cambrian.
Directors are current members (elected by you, other members!) who work closely with Cambrian’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team to help fulfill Cambrian’s mission: simplify banking for our members, save them time and money, and solve their financial problems.
There are a lot of great reasons to become a Cambrian member — you might like our rates, a specific product, or our personalized advice and service. But what you might not realize is that, as a member, you’re also an owner, which means you have a say in Cambrian’s direction as a credit union.
That’s a key difference between a credit union and a bank: credit unions are owned by you, the members, while banks are governed by shareholders. As a member, you have a voice in your financial institution’s direction.
It’s important to exercise your right to vote because the board of directors oversees the credit union, sets policies, and determines strategic direction. By voting, you help choose who represents members on the board.
Every candidate has a different skill set with varying experience and expertise. It’s important to review them all and decide who you think best represents you on the board.
Everyone’s finances are extremely important. It’s how we live day to day. You want a financial institution that has your best interests at heart, and Cambrian does just that. By participating in the director election process, you help shape Cambrian’s future direction, products, and strategy.
Voting is always worthwhile because it influences the long-term direction of Cambrian.
It’s a true benefit to have that voice.
