Manitoba's clocks aren't falling back this year. Make sure your devices know it.
Your devices need an update, and here's why.

Your devices need an update, and here's why.

For years, Manitobans have set their clocks back one hour on the first Sunday in November. That won't happen this year. In September, the provincial government announced Manitoba will stay on daylight saving time all year, so clocks will not change on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
This means one less change to get used to. But it's also a good time to check that your smartphone, computer, tablet and other devices are up to date.
Most phones and computers don't require you to set the time. They update it on their own using a built-in set of time zone rules for each region. Until now, those rules have told Manitoba devices to fall back one hour every November.
Because the province has changed its approach, technology companies are releasing updates with the new rules for Manitoba. If your device doesn't get the update, it may still fall back an hour on November 1, which would leave its system clock an hour behind.
If your device doesn’t receive the latest time-zone update, more than the clock could be affected. Calendar appointments, reminders, scheduled processes and timestamps may be off by one hour, and systems using different time-zone information may not communicate or schedule activities correctly.
It’s important to note that none of these issues will impact your accounts, but they can be frustrating, and they're easy to avoid.
Keeping your devices up to date helps make sure they run on Manitoba's new time without any surprises. It also gives you the latest security protections.
